Q: What is the first step in installing a driveway?

A: The first step is to get in touch with us for a free, no-obligation site survey. We’ll visit your property, assess the space, discuss your design ideas, and provide expert advice on materials and styles. From there, we’ll give you a detailed quote so that you know exactly what to expect.

Q: What’s the average time to complete a driveway or patio?

A: This depends on the size and complexity of the project, but most driveways and patios are completed within 3–7 days. We’ll give you a more accurate timeframe during your quotation, and we always aim to minimise disruption to your home.

Q: What is the best type of driveway to prevent weeds?

A: Block paving with a weed-resistant membrane and properly jointed sand helps keep weeds at bay. Resin-bound driveways are also a popular choice for a weed-free finish as they create a sealed surface. We’ll advise on the best option for your needs and budget during your site-survey.

Q: What type of maintenance does my driveway require?

A: We recommend occasional sweeping and power washing to keep your driveway looking fresh. Block paving may need re-sanding every few years, while resin and tarmac require very little upkeep. We’ll give you simple care tips when your driveway is installed.

Q: Do I need permission for a new driveway?

A: In most cases, you won’t need planning permission if you’re using permeable materials or if water drains naturally into your garden. If you’re planning a non-permeable surface and drainage leads to the road, permission may be required. We can guide you through this if necessary.

Q: What areas do you cover?

A: We’re based in Sevenoaks and cover a wide area across Kent, Surrey, Sussex, London and Essex. If you’re not sure whether we cover your location, just give us a call and we’ll be happy to confirm.

Q: How long will my new driveway last?

A: With proper installation and basic care, your driveway can last 20–30 years or more. We use high-quality materials and expert workmanship to ensure your driveway stands the test of time.

Q: Can a damaged driveway be repaired?

A: Yes, in many cases we can repair or resurface damaged areas rather than replacing the whole driveway. Whether it’s cracks, sinking blocks, or worn tarmac, get in touch and we’ll advise on the best solution.

Q: Why should I choose Award-Winning Paving?

A: We’re a family-run business with many years’ experience and a reputation for exceptional workmanship. We take pride in offering honest advice, competitive prices, and stunning driveways and patios that transform homes. Our many 5-star reviews speak for themselves.
